sequoia (part 2) / different light

We saw a bear and walked quietly past it without making eye contact. He/She was busy grubbing. We also saw 2 deer quietly munching away. I guess it was lunch time. Then we saw General Sherman which is incredible!

sequoia forest (part 1)

This past weekend, we drove to Sequoia National Forest for a mini vacation. Nikhil planned this surprise trip and it was definitely one of my favorite trips ever and so close to home! There are so many places to hike in this huge forest and each season opens up to different hikes and scenery. We hiked to Topokah Falls and met hardly anyone else in that part of the forest. Nikhil left pine cones perched atop various stones, stumps etc. as markers along our trail :)

Last night I went to see the Shorts Program at the Indian Film Festival of LA. Most of the films in this set focused on social, political and economic issues that affect so much of the population in South Asian countries. Watching these films urges me again to never take for granted the liberties and luxuries I enjoy.

The director for Kavi was present for Q and A and discussed some good information about modern day slavery and what we can do to help end slavery. This is the 5th year I am attending the festival and I am always inspired by all the up and coming independent filmmakers making films they are so passionate about.

saturday hike

On Saturday, we went for a beautiful hike along Malibu Hills with a constant view of the Pacific. We ended the afternoon at the beach, watching windsurfers and waves.

Anne of the lovely blog Prêt à Voyager asked me a few questions about travelling for her Boarding Pass column. Read it here. Also see Anne's Regional Roundup Paris on d*s which is a constant source of inspiration for me along with many of her posts for d*s! Thank you so much Anne!
